FIRST Info

Members,

We are STILL meeting on Mondays after school in Room D2. Please try to come!

We are planning to visit Tahoma High School on the 30th. They are the high school that won the FRC tournament back in March, as well as the Regional Chairman's Award. The upcoming meetings will be used to discuss the logistics for the event.

In addition, we are also planning a meeting to Tri-Tec, which is one of our sponsors.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Max, Caitlin, or Mr. Watson. You can also reach us on our Facebook page.

Day two was a success! After gaining some experience from a tough first day, our Robotics team placed 17th out of 46 teams (again, you can see the rankings here). The top eight teams choose two teams each to play in the quarterfinals. As a result of our standing, we were graciously recruited into the quarterfinal matches.

Unfortunately, that's where the competition ended for us. Our side lost in the quarterfinals, but we had a great time watching the finals, listening to the upbeat music, and applauding the other teams as they received their awards. In the end, Tahoma Bear Metal (#2046) won the competition. They will be going on to Nationals at St. Louis.

You can see the awards given out here: http://www2.usfirst.org/2012comp/Events/WA2/awards.html.

Our team had a mixed bag today. We started out better than last year, and each successive mach was better than the last. Our ranking took a short dip down to 27th, but eventually we climbed back up to 20th, which we are right now (see http://www2.usfirst.org/2012comp/Events/WA2/rankings.html for a list of rankings). Great job on everybody's part of getting the robot onto the competition field, off the competition field, and performing last-minute fixes in the pit (it is VERY crowded when the robot is in there!) Our media crew got some stunning footage as well, which is live-streaming in the team pit. We also got a lot of data of other teams' robots; expect a full report on that in the next month.

More on the competition to come tomorrow! Remember, if you are going on the field trip, the bus leaves from the KR Bus Loop at 7:00pm. We will meet in Mr. Watson's Room; please be there by 6:45am.

Thank you,

Geoffrey Liu, website co-manager
